A FINE 17TH CENTURY EMBROIDERED SWEETMEAT PURSE finely worked with raised scrolling floral designs in metal threads and silk, with tassel drops and carrying cord. Provenance - Ex. Richmond Collection; Christies, 23 June 1987, Lot 237. By repute said to have been worked by Mary, Queen of Scots during her imprisonment at Loch Leven Castle. In cushioned glazed fabric bound case.

This has come from a good private collector, who has informed us of this information. The provenance must of come from the Christies description. You will not be able to find this on the archives on christies.com due to the date of the sale.
