A FINE MID 18TH CENTURY MUSICAL VERGE BRACKET CLOCK the ebonised and ormolu mounted case having a removable caddy top with ball finials and pierced brass sound fret above a glazed door with reeded columns and pierced engraved frets repeated to the back, the sides with hinged opening frets, raised on ogee bracket feet. The 7" arched brass dial with gilt masked spandrels and silvered chapter ring surrounding a matted centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, two subsidiary dials above for regulation and tune selection, the engraved arch enclosing a silvered revolving dial engraved with the days of the week and signs of the zodiac fronting a substantial triple fusee movement with rise and fall verge escapement and foliate scroll engraved backplate playing two tunes on nine bells and eighteen hammers and striking the hours on a larger bell.
