FRODSHAM, GRACECHURCH STREET, LONDON. A FINE AND SMALL ROSEWOOD DOUBLE FUSEE LIBRARY CLOCK WITH LEVER ESCAPEMENT CIRCA 1840 inset with five glass panels having a moulded top above a rectangular case raised on an ogee-moulded plinth base with brass bun feet, the locking hinged door enclosing a 3.5" scroll engraved gilt dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial fronting a five-pillar eight-day chain driven fusee movement with signed backplate and original jewelled lever escapement striking the hours on a gong.

Frodsham. Clockmaker and chronometer maker granted Royal warrant in 1854. Son of William James Frodsham (q.v.). Clockmakers' Company 1845-1871, Master 1855 & 1862. In 1843 Charles Frodsham purchased the business of the late John Roger Arnold and the company was known as Arnold and Frodsham (q.v.). From 1858 the name reverted to Charles Frodsham, continuing until 1885 when it became Charles Frodsham & Company. In 1894 it became finally Charles Frodsham & Company Ltd.
