DETOUR, PARIS. A FINE LATE 18TH CENTURY ORMOLU AND WHITE MARBLE MANTEL CLOCK, the case surmounted by a recumbent semi-naked classical maiden drinking from a chalice, supported by a pair of winged cherubs riding seated rams, with grapevine swags, the moulded marble plinth with ormolu bands, on toupie feet, with a later giltwood base, the convex enamel dial with Arabic numerals surrounding a concentric calendar fronting a spring driven eight day movement with outside countwheel striking on a bell, the pendulum with gilt masked starburst bob.

The case has no losses, damage or restoration and the original gilding is in good order, no cracks or losses to the marble base, very tiny chips to the edges in places, the dial is in very good condition with no hairline cracks, there are tiny chips around the winding holes, The movement would originally have been a silk suspension which has now been converted and has a later pendulum. It is running and striking but may need a service. Very good quality.
