A FINE EARLY 19TH CENTURY ANGLO-INDIAN SILVER MOUNTED VIZAGAPATAM IVORY WORK-BOX set with finely engraved bands decorated with flowers and shells, the moulded lid with engraved initials and scrolled ends on a curved base with silver lion mask handles, ball and claw feet and sliding front drawer, the inner sandalwood lid having a hidden compartment. The fitted lidded interior complete and original with ribbon measure, cotton spools and thimble 20cm high, 31cm wide and 22cm deep - Provenance; Originally owned by Anna Long (died 1840) who was married to George Peter Tyler who worked in the Madras Civil Service, and thence by descent.
